Top speed governor limited?

Does a C6 2008 coupe have a governor limiting top speed to 155mph?

Someone mentioned this to me the other day. I'd be surprised and a little miffed, since GM claims a top speed of 190mph.

Any thoughts?

I don't believe any Corvette has ever had a governor. My 2003 C5 Z06 would bounce its rev limiter in 5th gear at a HUD indicated 179MPH, and my C6 went 181MPH stock before I ran out of road and had to slow down. GM claims 186MPH for the LS2C6, 190 for the LS3C6, 196MPH for the C6Z06, and 200+ MPH for the C6ZR1, and those are not made up numbers, they are speeds observed during testing.

Thanks. A friend with a Mercedes AMG55 said his car & mine were gov limited to 155mph.
