Odd question I know. Co worker and I are talking about these cars and top off the weight of the motor came up and I don't have a clue.

That's for the dry empty block with nothing in it.

If 80 lbs seems light, then just to add the internals to make it go to 450 seems like alot to me.

LS3 crate motor weight is listed at 418 lbs, the crank is about 215 lbs....

How can the crank, be over half the weight of the complete motor? I know it's going to be heavy but half? Really? This I would like to see more information on if anyone has.
