I have something on the passenger front of my engine, down low that looks like it has a fuel line running into it and then out to a Holley double pumper. Both input and output is at the bottom on the item. Is this a fuel pump of some sort? It looks like it might have oil running to it through the engine and is just a bit smaller than the oil filter in size. I changed the oil today and was checking to leaks afterwards and saw this moving like crazy then realized that this piece was missing 1 of the 2 bolts that held it on and the other was about 1/2 way out! Yikes!

:toilet: Well, there goes any credibility that I had with the group. My neighbor explained to me that it is indeed a fuel pump and that there is a arm that gets driven by the crank shaft (?) in the engine and probably where I am loosing some oil. He gave me a bolt that fit and I got it tightened back up. Maybe that's why it was hesitating when going around corners sometimes... :) Rookie mistake, learning.

The fuel pump is driven by a 1/2" diameter steel rod that gets shoved by a lobe on the camshaft.

I'm feeding a crate LS-7 big block with a mechanical pump- It'll probably die next time I drive it, but it's the pump that came on the car in 1969.......but I'll swear I never said that.:eek:wnedbutton:
