Would like to know what engine I have by the engine and head ID

The car is a '68, 4spd, 3:55 rear
I believe it's a 327, 300 HP
Red convertible

Engine: V0509HT
Drivers head: 3917291 D10 8 GM 27
Pass Head: 3917291 C298 GM 28

Also should this engine have a 6.5 inch or 8 inch balancer?

What intake and carb were used?

Compression?

Thanks

Looking for more exact info on engine

Those sights were ok but looking to figure out if I have a 300hp or 350 hp engine.
Would also like to know where the numbers are to find out if I have a matching numbers car.
I have the engine number but what other number do I need to look for and where is it?

this might help. you can get a copy of your original build sheet by using the VIN https://store.corvettemuseum.com/services/buildsheet.asp should give you everthing you want to know about your specific car..as to which engine it is..Engine Suffix Codes
HE .. 327 ..300 ... Roch. Q-jet & ManualTrans.
HO . 327...300 ... Roch. Q-jet &THM
HP .. 327..300 ... Roch. Q-jet, A/C, P/S, Man Trans.
HT .. 327..350 ... Roch. Q-jet, Spec. Cam & 4-Speed ..... and the #9 signifies Corvette....... hope this helps

I would have thought the 350 HP would have had a Holley instead of a Q-jet??
According to the "Black Book" Holleys went on the 427 400+ HP engines. The 327 and 427 under 400HP had the Q-jet

Last questions about engine

What's the right balancer? It has an 8" but the timing mark is at the 12o'clock position. I think it's a 350 balancer. Would the 350 hp have an 8" with the timing mark at the 3 o'clock position?
How do I find out if this engine and trans are matching numbers to the car?

Google "Small Block Chevrolet Engine Codes".
