I want to put a 502 in my 1981, anyone done this and what is involved

well, it can be done.. you will need upgrades to handle the additional weight and the heat .. higher rated front coils, larger, preferably alum radiator, and a hood with enough clearance for a big block .. along with headers or manifolds to match..and if its an automatic, you need a transmission and torque convertor capable of handling the power.. the Dana differential will be kinda iffey at that power level.. I m putting 525HP thru mine ..its built up with all HD parts and so far is holding but I never put slicks or real sticky drag radials on it. and the 85 MPH speedo you have will be less than useless ..probably a few more items I m forgetting
