I have a 1972 stingray with a 4 speed M21 trans. Which I'm having problems with 2 and reverse gear. Thinking about replacing the transmission and rebuild trans. Can I put a 5 speed or 6 speed with out doing any modifications to the car?

You may need to have your driveshaft shortened and buy a new yoke............

and, depending on which trans you choose, you may need to modify crossmember trans mount.

You can get a direct fit 5 speed from Keisler. If you go with a T56 six speed, you will need to cut the tunnel for the shifter and alter your crossmember if it is not a bolt in type. I went with the T56 and it cut my rpms from 3100 at 60 mph to 1550 at 60 in top gear compared to the 4 speed. That's with a 370 rear and 275/40 ZR17 tires.
