#1 never assume anything, #2 get the shorter springs for your vette, I have cut many coil springs but I don't take more than a 1/2 wrap out, I've never had a problem w/1/2 wrap. Heating the spring really? and hoping for the correct sag? not to mention severe heat/sink destroying the spring rate....forever.
