OK SV gang, who has purchased what software / hardware, and from who for the OBD 1 diagnostic system in their vette. I will use my lap top and buy the needed software and cable to allow me to do more than guess at what may or may not be happening with my vette. Most important is showing any set code (s) and their cause.. Thks for any help or advice.. and no I don't want to go the paper clip route.

Using the on board diagnostic system is easy and will show you any set codes and then you look up their cause. Haynes pg 6-2 tells how to do it and lists all the codes and what causes them. It takes 1 minute to retrieve the codes and find their cause.........

If your 94 has the later 16 pin connector this link covers it in the last half and again the decoding list is in Haynes: http://www.corvettephotographs.com/c4vettes/codes.htm

I bought through Amazon.com a hand-held device, OBD-I and II with all the necessary plugs and gives you a nice read-out of any code. I had a lean low signal problem on my oxygen sensor and it also showed the original problem causing this. Problem was with my MAP sensor tubing.
This device costs about 180 dollar.

I bought my cable here and they have some programs that you can get.

http://www.obd1cables.com/

The cable I bought goes OBD to usb only problem is the programs only run on Win XP no later versions. I happen to have an old Dell 600 with xp so it was easy. Reason for old programs old car lol. Back in 94 this was the bomb. The programs are tuner and diagnostic. Some are free some cost but this website seems to have everything and tons of free info and links.
