[Larry the Legend]

I have a 1974 vette and I have some play in the steering. I had the same problem in my 77 vette, but I don't remember what the problem was. The steering wheel has a little play in it....I can turn the steering wheel about an 1"1/2 before it grabs and turns. I need your help...please refresh my memory.

I'd check the steering box first
then the linkage if the box is ok , which I doubt

busted rag joint on shaft, loose overcenter adjustment on the steering box or a worn component like tierod end...by the way, forgot to say, Welcome to SV

I forgot about the rag joint.......
I doubt a tie rod end....maybe an idler arm.....
