Back in the 1970's I used a lot of silicone straight radiator hose on the heavy equipment engines I overhauled. The hoses were very expensive at about $100 for a 3 foot length but they were impervious to oil and had a very high temperature rating. I recently discovered silicone heater hoses are now available so I ordered two 10 foot lengths; one of 5/8" and the other 3/4" for around $55 each or around $5.50 per foot. I have been using a pair of silicone wiper blades for 7 to 8 years and they're still in perfect condition. The point is silicone hoses and wiper blades are pretty pricey but they last damned near forever. If I remember correctly my wiper blades cost around $35 but as they never harden and last so long they're well worth their higher expense.
