76 vette, I had a chirping sound that no one could figure out. I raised the rear and took off tires, put it in gear and noticed a big wobble. I'm just not sure which part would cause this (bearings, spindle, etc.)
I agree, you need the weight of the wheel and tire to check for movement in the bearingturn the motor off and see by shaking the tire back and forth
The half shaft is steady. The wobble is from the rotor and lug area of the spindle.
Spindle Bearings my friend.I had the rotor held on with lug nuts. With the tire on I get a good amount of movement at 12 & 6
its a lot more expensive that way. the replacement bearings and seals are not very expensive , tho it is a little work. .. and getting trailing arms off that have been on since assembly can be a bitch too. the easiest thing is to cut the bolts on both sides od the bushingLol! Exactly what I didn't want.
Thinking about buying a couple rebuilt trailing arm assemblies and replace both sides to avoid any future issues
