RE: Winter Upgrades

Just wondering if anyone have "winter upgrades" on their "To do" list? If so, care to share some details?

I'm considering a little bigger cam and a professional tune. Car performs pretty well now so I'm not sure there would be enough SOTP gain to justify the cost.

Every summer I say that I should install cabin heat insulation, but I never think about that in the cold weather. :coffeetime:

Yeah, definitely going to cost a bit to swap out the cam. What kind of hp increase you looking at? Have you thought about doing the swap yourself? Having seen many of your posts, you seem quite knowledgeable. You'd just need to find someone who has the right equipment.

We already spent a few $$$$ at Corvettes at Carlisle weekend in August. The Corsa Sports got swapped out of mine and installed in hers; while new Corsa Extremes with 4" quad tips were installed in mine. She also removed her stock chrome wheels and added black wheels with machined lip and rivets.

For Fall/Winter, just some cosmetic leather mods to add to items already done.

For mine: whole top of dash, double gauge A pillar pod and passenger A pillar pod, all done in ebony leather with red stitching.

For hers: new steering wheel, shift knob & boot, e-brake handle, all in ebony leather with blue stitching.

All items ordered from Gerardo at DSVettes.:thumbsup3: :woowoo:

I think you're on to something Pappy. Maybe a wing assembly from a Top Fuel Dragster, or maybe one from a Daytona or Super Bird.
LOL, I'd love to see a wing from a Super Bird on there.

I'd be looking to gain 20 - 30HP and a similar gain in TQ in the midrange. A 4* - 6* overlap cam would add 15, maybe 20 HP over my current cam and I'm hoping that a dyno tune would add 5 - 10 HP over my street tune.

I've done some of the work on the car, but I wouldn't tackle a cam swap without assistance from someone who knows what they're doing. I don't have that level of confidence in my wrench turning.

Don't blame ya for not wanting some expertise in that area, just wouldn't be worth it if a mistake was made.

I have some upgrades sked in the future, but not until late spring.

I like my cam + 3.90s, but sometimes I think I should have gone your route and put and ECS or A&A blower kit on. When I bought the car I thought 450 RWHP would be enough as it was a solid increase over my Camaros and the vette is a lighter car. Now 500+ RWHP looks better, but that is pretty hard w/o pulling the heads.

I originally thought about doing a H/C setup, but the blower #'s were much higher w/o opening up the block.

I'll be doing a forged 408 using the original block, ported stock heads, mild blower cam and a few other supporting mods. Am thinking about gears, but I do a lot of top-end running so I'm not too sure about that just yet.

I'm sure there will be some deals on blowers soon the holidays on the horizon.
