Hello folks,
Can anyone tell me about the quality of the reproduction door handles available out there? I'm looking at the ones from Ecklers, for $28. My old ones are pretty much shot, but I've heard some bad things about the quality/fit and finish of some of these type of parts. Also is instalation easy or hard?

Thanks!

Fit is pretty good, quality is hit or miss but count on a miss and install is not for the faint of heart, oh, I can't sugar coat it. There a real pain in the azz if you don't have child size hands. You'll need a telescopic magnet for dropped parts, long needle nose pliers, flat head screwdriver, a set of mechanics picks, a good flashlight unless your working outdoors in daylight and a steady hand.

door handles

I actually bought one from Willcox in the 60.00 range and when I got it in, decided to replace the other one so ordered it from Ecklers because I live in Florida and it only takes two days to get to me. It was in the same price range as the one from Willcox but the kever would scrape when you pushed it down. Sent it back for exchange and the next one was the same way. I went back to another one from Willcox and everything worked fine. But back to your point, spend a little more and get a better quality and change it once.

What's wrong with your current ones? If it is just a matter of appearance, have them re-chromed.

Mine from Eckler's, they were good, bought the pair about 2 years ago and but put them on 3 months ago
But yeah its no easy task (and I Medium sized hands) Aside from the tools you might want something to kick/hit... :catfight: LOL

handles

I was not trying to throw Ecklers under the bus but make the point that even with the more expensive handles, it's still possible to get less desirable products. This could happen with any vendor. My apologizies to Ecklers and forum members.
