In the past I had mentioned how full radiators need to be when they're COLD. All radiators need room for coolant expansion and the big blocks need 5" from the top of the tank or 6" from the top of the filler neck. Several weeks ago I added a bit too much coolant and the additional coolant got puked out yesterday after I shut it off at 212 degrees.

Notice where I put masking tape on my passenger side tank. That is the correct COLD fill level for a big block. Small blocks require about 3" because they don't have as much coolant.
