In my '73' Muncie, would that be 90 wt. lube. Gonna R&R rear seal and top off.

Better to use 50 weight straight grade motor oil rather than 90 weight hypoid gear lube. The hypoid gear lube contains a lot of sulfur and that sulfur attacks the brass synchros. And by the way, 90 weight hypoid gear lube is roughly the same viscosity as 50 weight motor oil. Being a gear lube it's measured on a different scale.

Well, I learned something then. In the 60's, everything back of the motor got 90 weight, unless it was an automatic.
But then, when I put in a Tremic 5sp, I found out it takes automatic tranny fluid. Thanks for the info.
