How to Replace a 1968-1982 Corvette Headlight Switch

Have no fear. Your C3 Corvette is not possessed, and you are not losing your mind.

Yes – you may pull your Corvette Headlight switch knob out and your lights go on….but then they go out….and then come back on….all for no apparent reason. Yes – the inside of your Corvette*may be*pitch black*because all of the dash lights have gone out, or they only come on at one position on the knob. But*no – *that doesn’t mean that your beloved Corvette has been overtaken by dark forces.

You just need a new C3 Corvette Headlight Switch. Simple as that.

The internals of the switch may have become damaged or worn causing the switch to overheat and the lights to go out. As the switch cools, the lights come back on. Overheats again, and out they go again.

The dash lights may work in only one position or not at all because the rheostat has gone bad in the switch and it no longer makes good contact.
