I went to open my hood yesterday and the drivers side latch will not release. Passengers side opens fine. I wedged a piece of wood between the car and the hood to pry it open so I can squeeze my hands inside. While holding onto the cable I pulled the hood release on the inside and much to my dismay, I can feel the cable sliding inside the conduit just fine. This means the crimp on the end of the cable pulled off and I have no clue how to open this piece of ****. Please help.

Correction, they're BOTH stuck closed. I played with it a little, removed the block of wood I was using to keep it open (to take the pressure off the latch) closed the hood, pulled the handle, and now they're both stuck.

That looks to be a 1/4" rod Just bent about 1" on the end to pull the Lever & that's it ? Tell me if I'm Wrong ?

I had the same issue once.
Was tightening up the hood mounts and closed it.
Went to open it and the lever was solid! Had a buddy pull up on hood while I kept playing with the lever, eventually opened.

Same problem with my 86 pacecar; finally opened with someone holding the release handle; likely won't work if your cable disconnected; nonetheless once you get it open attach a piece of picture hanging wireto each release latch long enough to enable you to reach in where the wiper blades are and no fail open from there on.
