Here's the situation: My vette is a 1980. I have installed some Polk Audio DB461 4x6's in the front dash, and I have a set of Polk MM691 6x9's for the back. Will everything work OK until I can afford an Amp? How much can the stock head unit push I guess is my real question.

Second, I'm thinking I want to try to take the original carpeted plastic plate that covers the stock 6x9's in the back off, and try to cut a hole in it and attach the new speakers to it. Has anyone tried this? Do you recommend it or not? What other solutions if any have you tried with your rear speakers?

I'd dig some pics if you got 'em.

Thanks guys!

I dont know what look you are going for, but it was easyer(to me) just to redo the sound system with new stuff (sterio, speakers, amp, sub.)
