Front Spring Problem

From Another C3 Forum:

"I am in the process of replacing my 72's original front springs and ran into a problem. When I lowered the control arm they fell out but the replacement springs are about 3" longer so I can't get them in. I called the vendor and was told I need a spring compressor to install them. What is a spring compressor and where can I buy one"?


Spring compressors are readily available from E-Bay vendors and places like AutoZone will rent them.


C3 springs require being compressed and bent before installation and the above compressor easily does the job. If after their installation if you feel the ride height is too low you can use these aluminum shims to raise it:
