Just picked up my 89 6-speed conv. The engine dies at 1700 rpm when accelerator is pushed, let off & it runs fine only below 1700. Happens in all gears.

TPS is bad or out of adjustment. Unplug at idle to see if it makes a difference.

Replaced injectors, catalytic converters were clear and mufflers were plugged. Replaced front converters and mufflers.. problem solved. Thanks

Hah I would have never thought. Thought it was the TPS too.
