Hello i am a owner of a 1986 c4 corvette. This corvette was a car that sat for quite some time ( during winter months ) in michigan. It now has a crank but no start issue. Wondering if anyone has any helpful tips. I did notice the connection to the starter housing as being extremely hot and almost a cherry red when ignition is being turned over. Since i have replaced the entire starter unit. I have replaced the fuel pump, and fuel pump filter. I have also done 6/8 spark plugs and wires as the #8 spark plug especially is hard to get to with the exhaust in the way. Here i have a photo of the car symptoms. I did originally spray starter fluid in the car it started but then immediately stalled out! This is a vehicle i was able to pick up for a bargain. It has run before with no problems besides a misfire at that time. That i could notice myself. But I am not a certified mechanic ither. I know only the basics.

The '86 has a cold start injector. Make sure that is hooked up properly. Its on the intake manifold drivers side. Looks like fuel injector but a little smaller. Verify fuel pressure at the fuel rail. I believe the fuel line has a filter under the car on the passenger side. If you verify fuel is there than start chasing for spark.
