Do these work to compress the coil? I am referring too the metal clamp down type

I think I would cut !/2 coil off..it would lower it and yet stiffen it at the same time,so it wouldn t bottom out easily..

Hell, just drop a big block into it. The extra 250 pounds will certainly drop it the 1" you want and you'll also benefit from the additional torque.
