"Can someone tell me the difference in automatic transmission flex plate bolts and manual transmission flywheel bolts? I seem to have some interference as my clutch plate springs are hitting the bolt heads on my flywheel".

This gentleman replaced his grade 8 thin head flywheel bolts with 12-point ARP bolts. The OEM bolts have heads that are about 7/32" thick and 12-point ARP bolt heads are a lot thicker so that's why his clutch plate springs are hitting them.

Street engines don't need ARP bolts like all-out racing engines need because street engines are seldom spun beyond 6000 rpm. Yes, you can use ARP bolts on street engines but you must remember they use different torque specifications.
