That's a good question one that I haven't figured out by VIN number but there are several differences regarding parts under the hood, that's how I figured out mine is an early 76. The radiator hoses are different from early to late and the fan shroud is different, luckily the early ones are the less expensive one with the late model being through the roof.
If you happen to find out another way of identifying please share since I also want to know everything I can about my vette.
this should help. ending vehicle #'s Aug.75-01602,Sep.75-05693,Oct.75-09982,Nov.75-13481,Dec.75-16696,Jan.76-20568,Feb.76-24370,Mar.76-28760,Apr.76-32805,May.76-36656,Jun.76-40830,Jul.76-44767,Aug.76-46558.Some late production 76's were built with parts associated with 77 models particually interior parts. The Corvette Black Book Has all this info.
Thanks for welcome,
Kinda hard to id. hoses or even the shroud if you don't know which one is which. I don't know but maybe it's me but it just looks like somewhere in the Vin # there should be a start in the number made to the late models.
