I recintly got a 82 C3 that was stolen, stripped, recovered and rebuilt. It was retitled in 1984 as an "84 assembled" with a Michigan assinged registration number, ( no factory VIN). Then it sat for about 22 years. Thats when I got it. Slowley I'm going through it and making things right. It has a Auto 3spd in it. The shifting lever has 123NR&P. My question is: Is this a GM Turbo 400 or 300 trans. How can I tell. Also when was the 4spd trans introduced?

the 350/350C both have a pan that is pretty much square with one corner cut off. 700 pan is rectangle, and no vacuum modulator. A 400, the pan is shaped like Indiana, straight across the front, straight down the left side, not very wide in the back, and has a big middle on the right.
