My 64 has an overheating problem and the mechanic is excellent - he has checked everything and the temp drop across the inlet to outlet on the radiator is 26 degrees - so the radiator is fine.

What was just discovered is the water is not flowing in or out of the expansion tank and the line is not plugged?

Any ideas would really be appreciated!

overheating can have multiple causes.. you say everything checks out OK..assuming the t-stat is good, and in correctly , [ I say that because I actually found one in upside down once] , the pump is good , the radiator is good, and the fan clutch is good, the only thing that comes to mind is you have the hoses to the expansion tank and heater core plumbed incorrectly

I've seen T-stats upside down too.....I always drill a small hole in them if they don't have one already......
I'm guessing a hose is switched.....
