I have a '71 big block that I converted to a '77 coolant recovery system. The problem I'm having is none of the recovery reservoirs hold enough coolant to allow me to top off my radiator when it's cold. If I top off my radiator when it's cold it will puke out a quart more than my 5 quart reservoir holds. The only solution is to keep the system a quart low to allow for its 6 quart expansion; meaning I have to keep the level in my radiator about 7" low when it's cold.

It's not a problem because as my engine warms up the coolant level in my radiator rises a lot so my radiator ends up nearly full at full operating temperature. I can top it off during the cold winter months but not in the summer months because the amount of coolant expansion is so much less in the winter.
