I went and bought a c5 2000 Corvette about a month ago and I know nothing about these vehicles; didn't even take it for a test drive; it was obviously an impulse buy (yup I did that) and so far I haven't driven it more than 30 miles; just mainly back and forth to a Chevy dealership in my area because it's ad nothing but problems. So I have a couple of questions for anyone familiar with these vehicles who cares to respond....

First issue was the battery kept dying even though the battery appears to be just 4 months old. Had a friend who likes to tinker around and he found a draw that was the drivers head lamp. The whole housing and fixture looks different than the passenger side head lamp so he was not surprised but when I took it to the Chevy dealership They told me the battery failed the battery test but everything else checked out fine. Paid them $600 and get the car home and now this battery is dead. They said try to jump start the car and get it back to them so they can do more tests. The only problem is now the steering belt is completely off the pully. The same friend came buy and helped me re attach the belt but every time we re attach the belt as soon as I start the car the belt comes right off in one or two revolutions.

So now I'm stuck having to tow it to get it to the Chevy place but I'm told it's very risky towing a Vette because it sits so low.

Any advice other than hang myself??

Never tow a vette, it must be flat bedded. Get it back to the dealer and let them find where the parasitic draw is coming from. They should troubleshoot it at no charge, you already paid for that, and they obviously didn't find the problem.

They will charge for everything. The new battery they sold me died already but it was still under warranty so that they did replace at no charge but they cannot fix the front headlamp assembly because they say there are no longer parts and I believe that was what was causing the main draw (form a number of reasons I won't go into to keep this short). I could not drive it to the place because any time I would jump start the car the drive belt would come off the pulley. It ends up they need to replace the harmonic damper/oscillator? A $2,200 job and then they suggested unplugging the automatic seat on the drivers side because they think that is also causing a draw. Basically just sinking money into this thing with no guarantee any of the fixes will work long term.

Definitely have to flat bed for towing. Parasitic draw can be time consuming to trace. Basically have to put a meter on the battery and start pulling fuses and see which one stops the voltage drop.
Yes I know. The problem is I can't find a competent mechanic willing to work on the vehicle. I'm told you can't get any parts for this year car anymore? Also when I was starting the car the belt was coming off and the harmonic balancer needs to be replaced. I posted on this forum asking if anyone knows of a good Corvette mechanic in Massachusetts but nothing but crickets so the car has been sitting at this Chevy dealership for a month now and I just know where it is getting towed next until I find a mechanic. I already had it towed once to get to the dealership.
