I purchased hinge pins and bushing from Ecklers for my driver's side door. I just removed the top hinge and and took it apart. All the posts about making this repair say that you just tap the bushings into the hinge, these don't come close to fitting in. Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do?

How much do the new bushings differ from the old ones ?
Bigger OD?

I would have to drill the hinge opening to get it to fit, which would thin the edge of the hinge. It might be 1/32 over, way to much to tap or even press it in.
