I recently noticed an alarmingly loud ticking (not quite tapping like a valve). Its defintely new but the strange thing is that once I open the hood I can no longer hear it.
I can even hear it resonating off of things that I drive by when I'm going slow through a parkinglot. Yet when I open the hood all sounds well, in fact great... wth??? |

if its ticking and not a lifter, the next likely culprit is an exhaust leak.. put it up on a lift, running, you ll find it

Man I hope so.. it would be perfect timing I'm about to get LTs and exhaust. Not to mention much better than the alternative.

It's not guaranteed, but I'd agree that it sounds like an exhaust leak from that description.
