C6 Option Question

2012 CHEVROLET CORVETTE COUPE GRAND SPORT 2LT for sale in Inferno Orange has me puzzled. There are badges right above the Grand Sport badge that say "Turbo Edition". Dealership cannot tell me what that package consists of or where it came from. This is a Cadillac Dealership that has the car and they can't tell me much about the care except that it has less than 2k miles. Anyone know what Turbo Edition consists of besides a possible turbo?

^^^This! Sounds like an aftermarket turbo setup that came with badges. Can they confirm that the car does indeed have an aftermarket turbo setup on it? If there's no turbo, then perhaps the previous owner took off the turbo before trading it and left the badges on it.

it sounds like ricer badges to me. There are not many aftermarket turbo kits out there and for someone to put one on and remove it with only 2k miles would be surprising. Those kits take a lot of work to install. If they come with badges at all, I seriously doubt it would say "Turbo Edition", rather than "Turbo" or the kit manufacturer's name.

If you are worried about the car having had an aftermarket kit, inspect the exhaust, radiator, and air intake for evidence that parts were removed and put back on. The other thing you can do is ask them to read the computer. GM claims the checkdigits or something changes when you program the computer, even if you put all the settings back to stock. Any turbo kit would require a major reprogram. The computer test is a serious consideration since GM would use that to deny powertrain warranty issues.

Lastly you could have them R&R the oil and a do a compression test if anything else looks suspicous.

heres a thought...raise the hood and see if theres an aftermarket turbo charger in there ....theres never been a Turbo Edition Corvette from Chevrolet .. there are companies that will modify brand new cars to customers request .. Baldwin/Motion does some awesome Camaros ..they once did Corvettes but it was many years ago

Agree. Pop the hood and see whats under there. There is no GM turbo option for the 2012 corvette.. I personally would skip on that ride. y that car. Did someone unzip the motor? Who know what else was done to the car.
