Greetings, I have a borg warner 4-speed in a 74 vette and am installing a 300 hp 350. My rear diff has 410.1 gears in it. My questions is what is the better combo? Replace the tranny with a Tremec 5-speed and keep the 410's or go with 336:1's??? and keep my (already rebuilt) 4-speed tranny? I have little or no desire to drag around the streets and am more interested in cruising. thanks for whatever advice you can offer.

with the 5 speed... you will have a .65 overdrive ratio for highway cruising to offset the 4.10 rear , and you ll probably start off in 2nd gear ...but changing to 3.36 and keeping the 4 speed will be a lot ,a whole lot, less expensive ...

Makes sense. the 410's are just a little too low for the 5-speed tranny and given the fact that I have money into the tranny already I think I will go with new gears. Found a core today at a local shop so will investigate. Thanks for the tip
