Modifying stock 71 manual shifter handle

I want to modify a stock 71 vett shifter handle to bolt on to a hurst linkage.has anyone done this? Before I cut the bottom off the stock shifter and drill two holes I was woundering if someone has done this before. I want to get it wright the first time. Thanks k.k.

Some vendors sell a stock looking, nearly identical handle just for this scenario that bolts right up to the Hurst linkage. I would check into that first before you modify your existing stock handle. Of course it won't have a functional reverse T-handle but you lose that anyway once you have the Hurst linkage.
