I want to clean my engine bay. It's mostley dust. Not really that bad for a 97k mile car. I just wanna get looking as good as the rest of the car. I use Adams products. Just want some hints on what to do so i don't mess anything up as i wanna start dressing up the motor. Nothing too extreem, just some cool stainless engine caps.

Warm the engine,this will help remove the grease,If you have a cold air intake cover it with a plastic bag, spray down the motor with a good cleaner ,nothing that will harm paint,I use Awesome from the dollar tree. Let it sit for about 10 min and then spray rinse,I usually do this at a car wash ,if need be Repeat,once it's clean it;s easy to keep that way,Oh and don't forget to remove the plastic bag.

First you should keep in mind that you never details a hot motor. The best time to detail your motor is in the morning when it has been sitting all night.Before you start detail, protect the alternator, any exposed filter, and the engine's air intake. Those are the places that you really do not want water or degreaser pooling in.

I ran into a bit of and costly trouble when I pressure washed my engine compartment this past fall. I have a 94 Coupe with an LT1 engine. As I found out, they are a bit sensitive to this type of care. Check out my posting in C4 general discussion "Starting Issue". You might find some helpful tips.
