I was having problems with my battery going dead after car sat up for a few weeks. I decided to buy one of those new Optima batteries. It would loose its charge too. While this was going on I had a window valet installed at the same time. Everything was fine as long as I used the car. I also had Progressive Insurance and asked to use a Snapshot device that they advertise to check your driving habits. To use their device you have to remove the window valet because they use the same plug. The battery didn't have a problem for six months. I removed the snapshot and pluged the window valet back in and the battery is now drained again. I really think the valet is doing this. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so were you able to correct it. I really don't want to throw away the valet and I also don't want to be unplugging it every time I park the car. Any good input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dave R |

I don't know if the window valet is causing the discharge. However, if your car is not a daily driver I would recommend connecting a trickle charger to it. In addition, I would recommend the Battery MINDer brand. There are enough electronics in the car to cause a slight drain on the battery regardless of whether you have any extra items connected. The repeated charge and discharge over long periods of time prematurely ages the battery.

That was some great input there. I will repeat myself, Has anyone else had problems with the window valet killing their battery? I have chargers and don't need another one. I got a 30% discount from Progressive by using the Snapshot (that didn't make my battery discharge). Some people just like to make comments for no good reason unless being a smartass is a reason.

This was your first sentence. That infers that either A) you didn't have a trickle charger, B) you were too lazy to connect one or C) you were too stupid to do so. Go $crew yourself.

You can check with window valet and see if they use any power while inactive. I know I had to use a battery tender to keep my battery going when I didn't drive my car for a week. You can take out the valet and see if it helps.
