My 1984 sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't. It runs great when running. If it doesn't start all I need to do is pour a small amount of gas into the injectors and it starts up and runs fine.

Does the fuel pump prime when you first turn the key on?

Stand by the tank , should be able to hear the pump run for 2 seconds

Try smacking the fuel tank with a rubber mallet with someone trying to start it. It might be your fuel pump getting into a deasd spot & when you use the gas to start it, it vibrates the pump enough to get it out of the dead spot. Smacking the tank may do the same thing.

First of all make sure you always start it with a closed throttle as all fuel injected engines are supposed to be started that way. And don't bother pumping the gas pedal because that doesn't do anything. Throttle bodies don't have accelerator pumps like the older carburetors have. When you turn your key on both of the injectors will deliver a very short "pulse" of gasoline to "prime" the manifold. I am very knowledgeable of the CrossFire Injection systems so e-mail me at sw82vette@yahoo.com and I'll help you get your problems solved. |
