I've had my '76 Stingray for three weeks now. All this time I've smelled a gas odor when I'm around the rear of the car. This evening I found the problem. Lifting up the rubber around the fill nozzle I located the return and gas lines on top of the tank. I started the car and sure enough there is a steady leak coming from one or both of those lines (hard to tell) but can see gas dripping from rubber line steady when car is running only.
I have set Saturday aside for fixing this. I am not a gifted mechanic. I can't see any other way to replace the hoses other than dropping the tank.
I could use someone's experience doing this to pipe in. Thanks

Not sure if yer 75 is similar tomy 73 but the trick I used to help was to fab a T that would go down into the filler hole. That allowed me to use my engine lift to hold the tank in position on both the removal and replacement without having someone up there breaking there fingers to help. Getting the straps and strap pads in place and tightened can be time consuming.

It took me all day to replace the 2 ft. rubber lines on the tank. The gas line was the one leaking but did both. Your right, the straps were a pain. I did it myself and it was as bad as I thought it would be
