Default 87 vette vs ford lighting

I guess it's not cool to brag about beating a ford lightning considering its a truck but that thing is fast as hell for a truck lol.... Here's the story so I'm driving about 35ish just crushing on my way home from my girlfriends house n I hear a spooling noise I look to my left and there's a silver ford lighting right next to me lined up perfectly beside me so without hesitation I hit it and so does he. I was steadily pulling off on him and was about a little over half a car length when we shut it down around 90 when we ran into some traffic. So the guy pulls next to me n asks what year and what motor I had n I told him 87 and stock L98 he was very I'mpressed as was I with his lighting..that's one fast truck..so my phone rings after the light changed and our little convo was over and it's my girl (who was on her way to work and was behind me when we took off and I knew she was there n wouldn't be happy with my antics seein how she works for law enforcement lol ..so I got a little lecture from her the same one I've heard 100 times lol but it was worth it lol

LOL funny towards the end.

I know the L98' s are pretty good off the line and then mid range, stock they die out a bit towards high end.

It's something to be happy about it beat a Ford Lightning considering the year and power ratings.
Another thing to take into consideration would of been what rear end ratios you both were running.
