Default Lowering the C5 on its stock bolts

I am told this can be done fairly easily. I am about to take possession of an '03 and am thinking of doing this at some point but after seeing how the car sits I imagine that lowering it any more could cause it to scrape a lot more readily than it might already. Anyone lower theirs this way and what are the pros and cons?

I went to 4" in front and 4 1/8" in the rear
All measured at the rocker panels by where the puck for lifting would go.
I have installed rub rails under the car so it really isn't an issue.

I made them
1" wide by 1/2" thick aluminum strips with countersunk screws
They run the length of the rocker with a slight upward bend and chamfer in front.

Others sell them for around 100 bucks
I made them from scrap in about 20 minutes.

^ Got a photo? I'm a stranger to C5 but no stranger to making something out of scrap. If you get a minute ... thanks.

I lowered mine down all the way in the front and about half the travel lenght in the back (sorry not sure how high the car is from front to back) and love it, you do need to be careful going over speed bumps and parking. Other than that I have seen no down side.

Thanks- good to know. How much of a difference in the potential for scraping between the stock and lowered positions? Did you find it necessary to get the car aligned after the lowering?
