I'm pretty handy and have rebuilt older vehicles, but never a Vette. Do you have to remove the engine to add headers to a 1999 C5? My goal is to add long tube headers, x-pipe, and cat-back.

No, I did them on my 2000 FRC and didn't have to pull the motor, it was a bit of work but I did mine by myself in a day.

I have a 2000 Coupe,6sp manual. I installed ARH long tubes. The left side was a breeze. The right side was a bit more difficult. You will have to remove the starter and the A/C lines will get in the way. I confess, I bent the A/C lines a little bit to get them to go in. Both sides will be fed in from the bottom. I did the job on jack stands but a lift would have been better. If you use jack stands, make sure you are very high off of the ground. How high? I'm not quite sure as I did not take the time to measure when I did mine. Just make sure you get 'er as high as you possibly can so you have room underneath to twist and turn to get the right position without hitting the ground. I was verrry tired after I finished the job. Recently I have purchased a Max Jax mid-rise lift. I have since, tackled the job of replacing my clutch. During the job, it is neccessary to remove the header primaries. With the use of a lift it was very easy. I wish I would have owned my Max-Jax when I did the header job. If you can get use of a lift it will be a lot easier and less tiring for you. Good Luck!

I've installed three sets of Dynamax long tubes and they go in fairly easily.
