Default 1986 Corvette ignition problem

I have a 1986 Corvette that has a miss and runs rich. In the process of elimination I have tested the coil, pickup coil is new, Cap and rotor new, MSD spark plug wirers test with in range. I hooked it up to a timing light and the spark is very erratic on every cylinder. Timing light is working correctly have tested it on another vehicle. I can not seem to figure this out!!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This almost sounds like a electronic spark control issue (ESC). Check your codes and let us know.

No codes other than the 42 when timing it. Cleared all codes now nothing after driving for 30 min or more.

Code 42 is EST - electronic spark timing.

When you see 42 or 43 it's usually a knock sensor that is part of the ESC system. This is the system that advances or retards the timing.

How does it drive? Did it go away?

Only got code 42 when I unhooked the EST plug to set the Base timing, that is when I noticed the erratic spark. Seems to drive well other than running rich and rough idle.

Question

It could be a worn dist. gear. What weight oil are you using?
