Hi all.
Without going into too much detail about myself, I am doing all my reasearch about C6 Z06 corvettes before I buy one. If anyone is willing to help me (I have searched numerous threads and problem threads, but havent gotten a full summary. I also know all about forums due to being on G35driver.com all the time). I am wanting to know what year C6 to buy and why. I have heard of the roof problem, but that is really it. Is there any other problems you guys are having like Engine/suspension/brakes? And what to avoid when buying a used one. Like is it okay to buy with aftermarket parts because the engine can withstand such power? The G35 I drive now had to have its engine replaced due to a piston ring flaw, so now im doing all of my reasearch before I buy another car. I know this is asking a lot but Please Help! Thanks and God bless Josh |

Josh, as you may have determined, I am a 2008 Z06 owner. I can speak for '08 and only the '08. This is by far the great car, the best I have ever owned. The performance is rather scary. I like most Vette owners, had to see what ar was capable of. Warning, be very careful. The car is way too much for the rear wheel. There is no way to keep the car straight and under control during an all out start.
My car has 12K miles, and is doing well. The only problem I have is the battery staying up after long storage periods. I sometimes can go several months without starting it, and the battery can not do this, even with a connected trickle charger. With that said, I can recommend a stock, 2008 Z06. |

I also own a 2008 Z06. It's a great car. Interestingly my wife owns a G35X and loves it. We have no problems with either car. As previously mentioned, the battery needs a trickle charger if you don't drive it for a couple weeks or more but my understanding from other on this site, just about everyone except daily drivers have this problem. Good luck with your research. I'm very happy with mine!

I have an 08 also. Fantastic car. 16,000 miles and no problems. I do not have a battery problem as the dealer recommended to leave it in reverse when parked. I have gone a month with no problems.

I have an '08 Z and it's been prefect. It now has 12k miles on it and is the most fun thing I have ever driven. As someone else above stated, this thing has a ton of power and can easily overcome the rear tires and become difficult to handle. With the stability and traction controls on you get a jerky on/off situation so you put it in competition mode to utilize the power, then be careful.

I reciently purchased an 09 new from a dealer, $22K under sticker price. There are some awesome deals. My research turned up a couple of issues, one is the roof problem on the early C6s amd the rocker arm failure problems that seem to be limited to the 07 model year. The 09s have a larger oil capacity, 10.5 qt.
I have 2500 miles on this car and all I can say is SCARY FAST!!! Better have your s*** together when you stand on it and have it pointed where you want to go, you'll get there in a BIG hurry. |

I own a 2008 Z06 and I can agree with everyone else that said that the car is perfect, and perfectly fast! I have had zero probs with the car since I bought it brand new, and can attest to the battery problem. Most of us don't use our Z06's as daily drivers, so they do have the tendancy to sit for long periods of time, and the battery will drain.
Interesting enough, just last month I bought a beautiful black 2006 G35 Coupe with a 6 speed manual. It is my daily driver. I'm Mr. Hyde here, but you can find me as Dr. Jekyl over at G35driver. Don't tell anyone, but the seats are better in our G35's than the Vette. |

Hello everyone,
My first post here and as my user name indicates, we are loving our 2008 Z! I just turned 50K trouble free miles. Replaced brakes at 45K and a new battery at 49K. I don't track the car (still waiting for more rock chips!) but I drive it fairly aggressively. The jury is out on my current dealership visit. The car started making a squeaky/metalliccy noise inside the engine and I fear I may have a broken valve spring or rocker issue, we will see. I know there were a batch of Z's with rocker issues and I hope mine is not going to be one of them. That said, you could not own a more fun car...puts a smile on my face every time I get in it!!! |
