My check engine light is on. I have scanned the diagnostics and get P0174, and P0171, I have removed and cleaned the MAF. I continue to get the same codes. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do next?

Not smart, lean running can burn valves and also OBD2 cars are plugged into during the smog check and queried for codes. Also, the smog technician checks for a check engine light illumination after turning on the ign before starting the engine. It must be operational.
Stupid posts are useless............ |

Running lean would not be something I would do.

Thanks eveone for your suggestions. I have been running a 10% ethanol fuel mixture. Could this possibly be the cause?

I believe that the code must be cleared regardless of making the fix. This is because the cpu stores the info.

It could also be a defective MAF sensor. Some have leaked silicone used to protect their circuitry, causing them to fail.

Open the hood and check the engine. If it is still there, close the hood and ignore the light. This stuff is so simple a fool could do it. lol
