Hello,
I purchased a speedo cable from Corvette Central
and was going to lube it before install.
Doesn't look like it will come apart though.
Are these lubricated before they're assembled?
Anyone have exp with AC Delco casings?
Are they a better way to go?
Thanks for the help.
I have always used #2 "moly" chassis lube. Then the lube job is good for about 50,000 miles. To lube the cable I always pump the grease through the housing then insert the cable.
What all approx. is involved with replacing the speedo cable? Mine was squeaking loudly and I had it lubed however now the squeaking has returned. Just wondering what it would entail to replace the cable all together.

Just unscrew it from the transmission and disconnect it from the back of the speedometer. If yours is squeaking again just re-lube it. I always inject #2 grease into the housing (completely filling it) then shove the cable in.
Okay. I'll have to try relubing it first then i'll check to see if its the speedo head. This is also a possibility because the noise is very loud from the passenger compartment. Thank you's for the advice!
