Im new on the forum and have asked a couple questions ,heres the latest, just got an 80 and need to replace all the exhaust except mufflers. I purchased the true dual system from mid america, everything from mainifolds to mufflers.Ive been playing with cars forever, but Vettes are a new deal to me . Im a gluton for punishment and want to replace it myself . So where do I start jacking this thing up to get enough room to do the job and where should I place the jack stands to be safe .Im thinking if I can get it high enough I can handle the rest thanks ..
place jack anywhere along side frame rails..if you put it at the crossmember it will lift the entire side at once.. I suggest to spray all exhaust bolts with penetrating oil and let soak prior to unbolting them .
Pop open the hood latch, poen both doors ajar, and undo the t-tops. Now no fiberglass will want to crack or worse. It is an easy job, take your time and enjoy it.
because I only wanted to take up one garage space during my resto, I went to the lumber yard and got 2 6x10's about 4' long, cut them, installed stops and now have ramps for the rear to be able to jack from one side. Then I use the front tube frame ('73) and it's up all the way around.
