I agree with fish. We called them wheels back then.:wheelchair: I think when the ricers came around, the kids started calling them rims. Pimp my ride.:smilielol5:
rim (rm)
n.
1. The usually curved or circular border or edge of an object. See Synonyms at border.
2. The circular outer part of a wheel, furthest from the axle.
3. A circular metal structure around which a wheel tire is fitted.
wheel (hwl, wl)
n.
1. A solid disk or a rigid circular ring connected by spokes to a hub, designed to turn around an axle passed through the center.
Is what a wheel or rim? Your basic question is stupid without a picture of what you want defined and that is why you are confused.....You have not a clue as to what you are talking about:doh:
ok, i HAVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER... the bearings that allow it to spin are called WHEEL BEARINGS, not RIM BEARINGS.. so, its a wheel ... huh? logical? yes?
I would say the "original term" would be wheel. People also call them rim, dub, and I'm sure other words as well.
