I'd get a real tune, although if you have no mods a mail order tune or canned tune will show improvement. Predator has a canned tune that you load up by yourself and works ok. The more you've done to the car, the more sense a real tune makes.
There are some pretty easy gains to be made on the C6. The LS3 is very conservatively tuned from the factory. It's easy to squeeze 10+ HP and similar torque gains without being very aggressive on the A/F ratio or running on the edge of detonation. I've looked less at the LS2 and LS7, but understand that they respond positively to a simple tune too.
