I would like to forget about all the marketing BS and hear directly from the end user which is good and which is crap.
I have a 2001 C5 and looking for a blower. Simple as that. I'm not rich so don't want to buy something only to find out it was a waste of money.
Any and all feed back would be appreciated.

I'm a distributor, so I'll bow outta this one..
If you have any question that I might be able to answer, just ask. But I wont impose any marketig "B.S." on to you.:burnout:
Does it count that i've owned numerous boosted motors personally??:smack:

I've worked at a blower manufacturer so I can answer a few questions as well.
You have some very good choices out there:
Procharger, Paxton, Vortech on the centrifugal lineup.
Magnuson, Whipple, and of course Jeffs fav, KenneBell. I'll defer to Jeff on the KB's though. :D
Depends primarily on what YOU want. Postive displacement or centrifugal.
Here are the main differences:
PD's make torque RIGHT now right off the line as they can make max boost at just above idle. Their boost "curve" is linear.
Centris make progressive boost. A some at the bottom end and progressively more as the RPM increases.

I posted this reply in another thread, but it may answer some of your questions too.
The basic break down is:
centrifugal (Procharger, Vortech, Paxton)- Mounts on front of engine, no need to change hood, power increases as PRM increases
Roots (Magnacharger) - mounts on top of the engine, needs new hood, low-end torque but loses power at top end
Twin screw (Kenne Bell)- mounts on top of the engine, needs new hood, flat power curve starting low and holds it at rpm.
This is very over simplified. Offered just to get you started. You need to decide how you want your power. Do you care about staying smog compliant? Are going to drag race or just spirited street driving? Are you going for a show look?
Any of the above, properly installed, at low boost, with a safe tune, should give you good reliable service with a gain in the 100HP + arena.
I would suggest that if you want a centrifugal go with ECS (east coast) or A&A (west coast) and they will give you all the info you need.
You want a Kenne Bell- gotta give Jeff @ TPE a call. That's the route I took....
Several shops can do the MagnaCharger but I have no specific recommendations for that install.
An entire system, installed by a pro with a few extras can get you to $10,000.00. You can also go much higher if you want.
Buy a used unit and install it yourself..... maybe as low as $5000.00
Like I said, all this information is very general and oversimplified based on my research. Keep searching, check a few web sites, do your homework and contact/talk with a couple of the pros.
Good luck....

On a simple blower install with out a motor build go with mild unit like a Vortech S Trim , these blowers make great power and is mild enough for a stoke motor, check with A&A Corvette they have great Vortech kits and Andy is a awesume guy and Vendor.
