I assume your joking, but......
Have you seen any cars painted at Macco or talked to anyone who has had their car painted there?
I wouldn't let them paint my lawn mower...even if they did it for free...

A good paint job starts at around $6000 and goes up from there. Some think thats nuts to pay that for a paint job, quality cost.Everytime I hear Maaco and Corvette in the same sentence, got to laugh.

Cost depends mostly on prep needed. Sand and paint without doing jambs. About 3000. Stripping and jambing add 2000. This is if no body work is needed.

Hello
The price of a paint job varies from state to state and from coast to coast. On the west coast you mite pay $5000.00 to $9000.00 down hear in Florida the same paint job is $3000.00 to $4000.00. On the upper east coast $6000.00 to to $12000.00.
If it is stripped to the gel-coat or just paint over the old paint, Old repairs that most be cut out and repaired the correct way or just paint over old repairs. There are so many thing that can change the price of a paint job that asking a price at a website will be no help at all, Find a body shop that paints Corvettes and get a price then let us know at this site, Some one will be able to tell you it the shop you picked is good or bad.

I want to get one of those special paint jobs that reflect different colors as I drive by. I was hoping a red, white, blue pattern would mix well.:patriot:

My 85 was painted by MAACO body work and paint $1500 andthey fixed my drivers side power window. Its the black one in the middle. Why pay $6000 for the neighbors cat to scratch?

A few things I have learned. You get what you pay for, buy cheap get cheap, good things come to those who wait. Save your money until you can pay for a quality paint job.

I went to MAACO and the owner came outside and told me 10,000. We were standing over a 100 ft away. Ever since MAACO franchised, they became very SH***Y. Shop around. If you have a garage and some talent, paint it yourself. with todays paints its alot easier than you think. Its all in the preperation.

Good paint jobs are hard to come by, do your homework and bring your checkbook... your going to need it.

The same thing happened to me last year. That convinced me that the MAACO name does not carry the same respect they once had in the early to mid eighties. I know cause I had two vehicles painted with their "presidential" level paint jobs and they were quite acceptable for the price. Nowadays, its what ever the market will bear that determines the price. Think I'm kidding, I asked a local guy about how long it would take to prep and paint my vette. He said about 3 days working 8 hours/day. I asked him if he would take the job if I paid him a 50% markup on the paint and gave him $100 an hour for labor. Sounded fair to me, I don't make a hundred bucks an hour, but guess what, he said "yeah, that might be fair, but why should I do it for that when I can get $5500 to $6000.

If you want to know where to geta GREAT paint job for a reasonable price. Go to a local car show. Watch for the cars that DRIVE there and if their paint meets your standards. Ask them where and how much.

Don't go Maaco unless you are willing to do the prep yourself. And if you go that far you might as well paint the damned thing.
