sounds like it needs a rebuild the belts are slipping when its cold the trans fluid is thick enough to keep the belts from slipping but as the oil heats up the belts do to you can try some lucas stop slipp for trans and maybe a new filter. But i say you need to rebuild

I'm confused as to what you mean by"the engine keep rapping out the transmission does not engage" ---do you mean the engine keeps reving up and the trans does not engage at all?? or is it just not shifting into the next higher gear??---If you had positively NO PROBLEMS before the cam replacement here's what I'd check---A) be certain you have the correct amount of ATF in the trans---B) another good possibilty since the intake was removed for cam replacement is that the trans TV cable is in a bind OR not adjusted correctly---those are the 2 things i can think of which could be related to a cam install---A governor problem will usually hang the trans in low gear--- if the problem was there before the "cam" then as was stated in above post you likely need a trans overhaul.

Found out what the problem was... they did not change the filter when they flush the transmission fluid, dirt particles in pan lodge between valve bodys and would not let it shift into higher gears. Now since drain the transmission replaced the filter and install new fluid it works fine thanks for all the information Frank ... love driving this c4 and now that the cam shaft been replaced it runs super .. now to fix the little things ... thanks again it really nice having a place to go where their are people willing to help ...Frank
